I was born when the world was already full of light—the time when western technology already wiped out the dull light. Also, the time when the night is no longer about darkness. People can live their life at the night almost the same way they live their lives during the daytime. Artificial lights in the city presented the attempt of humans trying to conquer nature.

Candlelight is one of the ways to lighten up the darkness back then. The uncontrollable flame and brightness is the reason why it is no longer used commonly in this modern day. I studied and explored the uncontrollable light from back in that period of time with modern technology - phone, screen, and scanner. The candlelight movement in nature was recorded and played in the scanner. This visualizes the way the candle moves in a way the eye could not see. In the meantime, as the one who always lives in the city, I am always surrounded by interesting natural and artificial light situations both natural and artificial such as the moon, helicopters, and street lights. All of these represents the way human attempt to conquer nature. This project is the story of me observing those various kind of lights around.
